In support of his claim that the Otaki Borough Council watched "the interests of all sections of the borough, the Mayor, Mr. C, F. Atmore, on Wednesday night advised a deputation that in having the proposed motor highway shifted from the Otaki Railway to the beacn the council 'had done a good job for the railway end. Mr. A. D. Webster, a- member of the deputation, did not agree and. said he thought it would have been a good thing if the motorway had gone through Otaki Railway. When it was pointed out that a public meeting had unanimously voted against the proposal going through the Railway, Mr. Atmore and council members won the apprpval of several present for their efforts in having ben suecessful in transferring the roadway to Where it would pass through less profitable land.
