He won the- j Victory tournament match play at ! Titirangi in 1947 and the medal s'ec- j tion of the Victory tournament at j Akarana in 1948. He was a caddy at | Titirangi as a lad and then joined | the club as an amateur. . I During the war he served for five i years in the iiifantry and saw action ? in most of the Middle Eastern and It- I alian campaigns. f . His first New Zealand champion- j ship tournament was at Wellington in J. 1937 and his first national tournament as a professional was at Balmacewan in 1938. He has not missed an open since then. Galloway, is a member of a famous New Zealand golfing family, is a fluent stroke player utterly devoid of nerves and capable of attaining great heights of brilliance.
