Both Otago and Wellington Won six sets but the couit (.f j games was 14 to 12 in Otago 's favouf. A f ew minor surprises in . the even- j ing's play were overshadowed by the | wm of Miss June Leatherley (Otago) j who beat the New Zealand Women 's j singles champion, Miss Margaret Hoar ! ( W ellington) in the Teagle Shield flnal. | In the men's final, the New Zealand singles champion, W. • Fogarty (Otago j, was beaten by two straight sets when he played R. A. Algie (Auckland) from whom he took the title last year The Auckiander was seldom troubled and won 21 — 12, 21 — 14.
