N.Z. Cricketers At B.A.O.R. Headquarters

(N.Z.P.A.-

— Reuter.

Cc-zyright)

Received Wednesday, 9.20 a.m. BAD QEYNHAUSEN, Sept. 13. The New Zealand cricketers arrived at Bad Oeynhausen, headquarters of the British Army on the Rhine, to fi-nd that they were as popular with all r-anks of the Army as they have been with the English cricket crowds. One reason is that they are the first overseas cricket team to visit the Western zone of Germany to play the Combined Services. An.other is that General Sir Charles Keightley, the Army commander, requested that where possible two days' leave should be granted throughout the Army to enable any who are able to do so to watch the match. iSince it was learned that the New Zealanders were to play in the Western zone'" their matches in England have been clos'ely followed by the Army and- they found that few records of their English tour were not known here. The team left Scarborough on Saturday morning for London and that evening went to Harwich to catch the night ferry to Holland. Throughout Sunday they travelled by train to Bad Oeynhausen by way of Bentheim, Munster and Hamm, and did not arrive until late at night.
