Life Of Christ To Be Shown In Film
Received Wednesdav 7 p.m. LONDON, Sept. 13. The French direefor, Georges de la Grandiere, is to produce a film of the life of Christ under the title "The Divine Tragedv. " All the actors and technical directors will be anonymous and no credit lines will be given. The film, which is expected to cost £250,000 is baclced by finance provided from the Fnited States, Britain, France, Belgium, Ttalv, and Switzerland. It.s seenes will be shot in Palestine, Ttalv, Franee, Moroeco-aud the Fnited States and it is expected to run for three hours. The part of Christ is to be playeS by a young French professor of mathematics who has nover acted before. He has been chosen becausc of his Tesemblanee to paintings of Christ. The "^irgin Mary will be played by a famous Ameriean actress whose identitv will not be diselosed — thnugh aecording to the. director she will be reeognised all over the world when the film is released. The film will not deal only with the life of Christ but will also endeavour to sliow it against a baekground of yvprld history up to the present age. production is expected to begin next month* in the south of France.
