LONDON, September 5. A heat haze shimmered over most of Europe today as many cities reported the liottest September day for a centurv.' I.ondoners sweltered in a liumid tempcrature of S3 degrees and freak thunderstorms, some las^jng only 90 seconds, soaked many people. Paris registereed 91 degrees. In Brussels, where the temperature was 90 degrees, ofifice and factorv workers organised lunch-tiine bathing parties. The Hague, with 91.4 degrees had its hottest day this summer and a September . record for more than 100 years.
