Warning: Foreign Trade Not One-Way Street
Received Tuesday, 9.30 a.m. * NEW YORK, Sept. 5. President Truman tonight warned American farmers that the United States would he unable to maintain her overseas markets for farm products unless it hought more from foreign countries. President Truman was making his Labour Day speeeh in Des Moines, Iotva. He uttered a warning to the American ex-servicemen's convention in the heart of the Middle West farm country. He said that the stability and progress of United States agriculture was important to the whole world. Foreign markets were essential for many of its farm products, but foreign trade was not a one-way street. "There will be tremendous benefits for us in raising living standards, in more prosperous world economics and ' closer ties between nations if we buy more from other nations."
