Czech Border Police Fire On U.S. Troops

Received Tuesday, 9.25 a.m. LONDON, Sept. 5. German border police renorted today that United States constabulary troops and Czechoslovak border police exchanged over 600 pistol shots near Hof early yesterday, says the Associated Press' Frankfurt correspondent. The American pohce said la+.er that one of their armoured vehicles had been fired on from the Czech frontier on Priday night. The Americans had ignored the attack. Early yesterday morning a six-man American patrol had come under heavy fire. apparentlv from Czech border police. The Americans returned the fire and radioed for heln. When another American patrol arrived the attackers were forced to withdraw.
