Coming-of-Age Celebrated
Between 100 and 150 relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. A Mudgway gathefe'd at Te Horo Hall on Friday night to partake of their hospitality " on! the occaof the coming-of-age of their elder daugnter, Jean. that their guest would continue decorated and dancing t,o spirited music proVided by "Mrs. H. Campbell was freely indulged in, while items by Mr. and Mrs. T. • Matthews provi'ded a pleasing interlude. ' ' The toast of the guest of the evening was proposed by Mr. Walter Taylor, who congratulated Miss Mudgway on attaining her majority. The speaker paid tnbute to the success she had attain'ed in her activities as a.member of the' teaching profession, and stated all would agree with his assurance that their guest would continued to do her esteemed parents credit. Miss Mudgway, who was charmingiy dressed in a black taffeta full skirt, with a white capsleeved top embroidered with red roses, thanked Mr. Taylor for his remarks and also all who had attended or helped in any way to make the evening so enjoyable, with special thanks to visiting relatives, many of whom had come from distant parts. While the large attractivelyiced birthday cake was being cut, Mr. Lloyd Russell ad'ded his congratulations and presented Miss Mudgway with . the customary large gold key of the door, with the wish that it would open the way to many years of further joy and happiness. . Mr. Russell, assisted by Mr. I. Peters, ably carried out the duties of master of ceremonies, and after further dancing, a happy party broke up in the small hours with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne."
