Vocalist's Fine Performance. With a magnificent performance of the aria "Caro Nome," from Verdi's "Rigoletto," Mrs. Daphne Ellwood, the Levin soprano, further distinguished herself at last night's session of the Wellington Competitions Society's festival by winnirig the society's vocal scholarship for women. Miss Violet Jones, of Lower Hutt, was second with the contralto aria "My Heart Is Weary-." Houses For Ex-Servicemen. During July a further 167 State housing tenancies were • allocated' under the system Nwhereby at least half of all newly yacant or newly built State reptal houses and flats go to ex-service*men.
