Levin Kiwi Team To Play Upper Hutt
"V This weekend will see the playing of the annual rugby match between the Levin and Upper Hutt R.S.A.'s. The trophy at stake is merely a suitably inseribed length of 4in x 2in timber, but it is played for with the enthusiasm and zest of a Ranfurly Shield contest. By a strange coincidence a visiting team has never secured a victory. The sequence of wins has been: — 1945: Upper Hutt (at Upper Hutt) ; 1946: Levin (at Levin); 1947: Upper Hutt (at Upper Hutt) ; 1948: Levin (at Levin) . This year's team will be chosen from the following: Ransom, Smith, Powell, Bilderbeck, Horn, Mi:roy, Lincoln, Goldstone, De Castro, Fletcher, Galloway, McReady, Carkeek, McMinn and Webb. Any others wishing to pari ticipate are asked to contact the ' manager, Mr. Cliff Wilkinson, as soon as possible.
