Lighter Rainfall During August
Rain fell on 14 days during August, the total number of inches recorded by Mr. H. Harvey, of Cambridge Street, being 2.78. For the same period -last year, 3.68 inches fell on 13 days. During the last eight months the rainfall registered in Levin was 31.86, compared with a total for the whole of last year of 45.08 so that to reach la'st year's figures 13 inches of rain is still required. There were eight frosts during last month, the heaviest recorded being on Saturday, August 27, when five degrees were recorded. The new month started off this morning with a very heavy frost of six degrees. There were quite a few days last month when the temperature wavered-just on freezing point.
