Rowland Cup Rugby Match Due Again

. ^ The Rowland Cup match, the annual rugby highlight between the winners of the Manawatu and Horowhenua junior rugby competitions, is again due to be played. At Tuesday night's meeting of the Horowhenua Rugby Uhion's management committee it was decided that September 24 should be suggested to Manawatu as a suitabie °date. The game will be played this year at Levih and will be the curtain-raiser to the Wellington B grade game. It was suggested by the president, Mr. R. L. Robinson that Manawatu should be approached regarding a possible friendly game between the winners of the two unions' senior competitions. A complaint that the referee of the Rahui-Paraparaumu fourth grade game, played at Paraparaumu on Saturday, had not arrived on the field was made by the Rahui delegate, Mr. A. Watt. A referee had been obtained at the iast minute by the efforts of the clubs. The referee's delegate, Mr. J. A. Zuppieich, said that he did not know of the incident as yet, no report having been received, but the referee would stand suspended until an explanation had been received. An invitation to members of bofch teams in today's game to attend a screening in the Regent Theatre as the guests of the management was conveyed to the union by the secretary of the company, Mr. H. B. Burdekin. The invitation was accepted with thanks.
