All Black Test Choice Seen As Gamhle
Copyriaht)
Received Wednesday, 10.2Q a.m. • DURBAN, Aug. 3Q. "The Sbuth African selectors have avoided making other than the most essential changes in the Springbok side, but the New Zealanders have qommitted themselves to what must surely be one of tha biggest gambles in the history of international rugby in tiiscarding their two es ablished scrum halves," says the Natal Daily News rughy writer in coinmenting on the terms for the third test. "They have staked their chances on winning next Saturday on the growing conviction that Neville Black, one of their fly halves, is 'a natural' for the scrum position. They evidently feel that h's long sweeping passes will provide just that scope needed for their cenire players, powerful Ron E vidge and speedy and trustful Morrie Godaard, to exploit their capacity for penetration, which has been lacking in many games. "Play at Aliwal North was very mixe'd,. but Black showed sufficient improvement last Saturday to induce the selectors to pin their f aith on him for " the third test, which means so much to the tourists. Black clears the ba1! faster than Conrad and his passes are longer than those of Savage. If he susLains his improvement the All Black game may turn into something of a triumph."
