Growing Soviet Troop Concentrations In Hungary Reported

(N.Z.P.A,

Received Wednesday, 11.45 a.m. BELGRADE, Angust 30. Concern is 'felt in Belgrade over the growing reports of Soviet troop concentrations in Southern Hungary, says Reuter's Belgrade correspondent. These reports, considered to be reliable, spoke at first of one complete division and parts of two others, with tanks in the area of Kechskemet. ^ Tonight there were rumours of further reinforcements.

The possibility that these movements could be preparadons for an eventual attack on Yugoslavia were not altogether excxuded by diplomatic observers, but it was thought more likeiy — particulariy as no attempc has been made to hide them- — that their objective might be to intensify the war of nerves against Yugoslavia and to dissuade the West from economic aid to Marshal Tito's regime by making this appear a bad risk. Some observers conneete'd these movements with possible internal developments in Hungary, where the lormer Foreign Minister, Mr. Laslo Rajk, is to be tried for treason soon. Indieations that Russia will be charged au the United Nations General Assembly with threatening the peace by its violenf; campaign against Yugoslavia gfew tonight with the disclosure of the personnel of the Yugoslav delegation to the -United Nations. The delegation will be led by the Yugosiav Foreign Minister, Dr. Edward Kardelj, and the propaganda chief, Mr. Milovan Gnas — accused by the Russians of being traitors.
