Koputaroa W.I.'s August Meeting

^ — The August meeting of the Koputaroa Women's Institute was held recently, the president, Mrs. E. Baker, presiding over a good attendance of members. Following the usual business the president presented Baby Keenan with the institute present. In expressing her regret at the departure of a valued member, Mrs. A. Koberstein, the president asked her tq accept a small gift and a box of spring flowers from members as a token of esteem. Congratulations and good wishes were expressed to Mrs. H. Pene on the occasion of her golden wedding anniversary and a gift and appropriate floral tribute were presented to her. After the serving of afternoon tea by the hostesses, Mesdames Gibson and Addinell, a very interesting and instructive demonstration on soft toys was given by Mrs. Bennett, of Tatum Park. A collection of garments and gifts for Corso was made. ' Competitions resulted as follows: — Senior, .hot water bottle cover: Mesdames Brown and Chapman 1 (equal), Mrs. Thompson 2, Mrs. Ching 3. Junior, peggy squares: Marie Brown 1, Pat Miller 2, Deborah Guy and Jennifer Miller 3 (equal). Best flower: Mrs. Netteh. Best shrub: Mrs. Lancaster. Junior, best . flower: Marie Brown. .
