WELLINGTON. August 29. An inerease of 150 sciuare feef of tloor space in the permispible size of the larger houses. was announeed toniglit bv Mr. Semple as a fnrtlier measure of the relaxation of the existiug buildinT controls. Mr. Romi'de recalled that in Mav last the permissible mavininm tloor space for those with minimum accommodatinn requirements, was increased from 1150 to 1300 sonare feot. The amendment announeed bv the Minister tonight doefr nf)F"affect tliis limit of 1300 square feet. Tt does, however, permil an inerease of 150 snuare feet in the size of all houses over 1300 feet subiect, however, to existing conditions as to the mmiber of persons to be permanentlv accommodated and the minimum nuniber of bedrooms required. Mr. Remplo said: "The Government regrets that circumstances in the building industrv do not justifv a complete revocafion of the control of house buildine but T am sure the additioual nrea will afford a substnntial measure of relief in the size of the more imnortant roonis and so Mve greater elbow room to larger familios.
