Lord Holland Wins At Foxton

LA MODELLE'S BIG DIVIDEND

The weather was brilliantly fine for the Foxton Racing Club's Spring- meeting and there was a large attendanee. One of the features of the racing was the success of little faneied horses and the totalisator turnover, which was £51,101, was only £2403 below last year's total of .£54,504. The programme was put through right' to time and the machine was balanced so quickly fbr the last race that the horses were on their way before the band had concluded the National Anthem.

The training honours were fairly well spreaxl. Three winhers were from Awapuni, including Lord. Holland and La Modelle, which won the main flat races, there were three froin Wanganui, and one each from the Carterton, Foxton, Bulls and Trentham centres. The eeurse was in excellent order with the going soft. After the second division of the^Trial Stakes the pay-out was held up during an inquiry into alleged interference by Piper's Son, ridden by Iv. R. Ford, with G-oldOn Sun (Y. J. Seliars). Ford was eharged under Bule 289 2 (a) and (b) with interference to Golden Sun over the last 50 yards of the rdTce. After hearing evidence from the chief stipendiary steward, Mr. B. X. Sandilands, a patrol steward, Mr. Phillip Eeid, and Ford and Seliars, the conimittee found that there was not suflicient evidence of interference to warrant changing the judge's placings or inflicting any punishment fon the rider of Piper's Son.
