("Chronicle" Correspondent) The Paraparaumu Women's Institute held its monthly meeting in the14 Anglican Hall recently, Mrs. N. Hansly presided and in, the absence through illness of the secretary^ Mrs. R. Caterer, the duties of this ofRce were. carried out by Miss R. Cromb. Mrs. Banks, recently . returned from. Australia, gave a most inter.esting resume of her visit. The talk was listened to with the keenest interest and was thoroughly- enjoyed by all. Competitions resulted as follows: — Best posy: Mrs. S. Moult 1, Mrs. J. Beckett 2. Best flowers: Mrs. Frederickson 1, Mrs. Moult 2. Raumati W.I. Meets. The Raumati South Institute met recently in the Chufch Hall, Raumati South, Mrs. Wakelin occupying the chair. There was a large atten'dance and seven new members were welcomed and enrolled. A pleasing feature of the afternoon was the presentation of birthday sprays, while Mrs. Nye, who eelebrated her birthday, was the recipient of a lovely. iced birthday cake. The roll call was a funny story and members had many laughs over the stories told. Each member present took to the meeting a valued heirloom and spoke a little about each exhibit, thus helpin gto make the afternoon a very interesfcing one indeed. Bring-And-Buy Function. Members of the St. Paul's Paraparaumu Beach Ladies' Guild held a bring-and-buy afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. D. Sweetman, Manly Street, recently. During the afternoon amusing entertainment was provided by those present trimming hats from material made available to them. The effort of Miss Parker was deemed to be the best and her "new look" hat was awarded first prize. Afternpon tea was served, while a saies table well stocked with a wide variety of choice goods did much to augment church funds.
