Hidwell plaved one of his best games to extend Hehroeder to the limit. Hedginan was overwhelmed by GonzmIps' pannonball service, but put up a :rreat fight in a niatch which lasted 1 luiur 10 minutes. Bromwich and Hidwell beat Talbert and Mullov 3—6, 4—6, 10—8, 9—7, 9—7, in the doubles. The mateh mounted tn a terrific elimax in the last set and v. as in doubt till the linal stroke. The match, whieh lasted 31 hours, was the second longest doubles in Davis "np ohallengo round history. There vere screams of exeitement from a •T'lwd estimated at nearlv 10,000 as HMwoll lost one match point in the llhh game of the final set.
