Personai. Mrs. L. McBeth, accompanied by her mothet'- and daughter, has returncd to Otaki after an extended trip to ihe South Isiand. Friends will 'be interested to know that Mrs. M. A. Bowey is progressing as well as can be expected but is not yet weil ' enough to see visitors.. The death occurred on Wednesday of Mrs. Mary Louisa Buriing, widow of the late Mr. George Arthur Buriing, ' at her residence Barber ■ Street, Manawatu Heads.

The deceased was 81 years of age. The funeral took place at Otaki on Thursday after a service at the Anglican Church, Foxton. . Selwyn, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. Strom, Te Horo, a recent sufferer as~the result 6f the poiio epidemic, following a short visit to his home, is now - reported to be responding well to furoher treatment at Palmerston North. He was formerly treated at both Palmerston North and Rotorua.

Mr. Geo. Harris, the 91-year-old father of Mr. H. Harris, of Rangatira Screet, on Wednesday flew back to the South Island after a hohday visit to Otaki. Whiie here he showed the keenest interest in the activities at the Maori Church. Mr. Harris has indicated his intention of returning by air to Otaki for Christmas, and hopes to stay on for the Maori Church centenary celebrations, now scheduled for February. Card Evening Winners. The usual forinightly card evening was held in the Anglican Beach Hall on Monday last. Winners were announced as follows: Mesdames W. Anderson, E, J. Rosoman, Dr. E. G. Atmore and Miss Fleury, firsts; and Mrs. G. Jorey and Mr. A. Gurney, seconds.

Football. The following players for the Rahui fourth grade team on Saturday are asked to assemble at Debreceny's corner at 12 noon: A. Morgan, R. Codis, A. Matner, B. Conniey, R. K&och, ' c.
