Trust Fund To Aid Theatrical Art
WELLINGTON, Aug.ust 23. The British Council states that, following the tour last year of the Old Vic Theatre Company, Sir Laurence Olivier, Miss Vivien Leigh, and Miss Ngaio Marsh, all of whom were directly eoncerned with the farewell broadcasi in New Zealand, and D. D. O'Connor Ltd., signilied their wish to set up a trust fund for the benefit of those JS'ew . Zealanders who wish to extend their knowledge of the theatre arts by study overseas, but particularly . in . Great Britain. The matter was placed in the hands of Mr. John Bostock, the repre ' sentative in New Zealand of the British Council, who has now completed all the uecessary arrangements -to give efteel to the intentions and wishes of those eoncerned in the proposal. The fund will be known as the iSiew Zealand Drama Students Trust Fund, and will be administered by three trustees — Mr. Bo.&to.ek^as ...the,_ -repre; ' sentaftve of th^Sftw^^tnfnYifln&r. n! C. Somerset, representing the University of New Zealand, and Mr. G. H. Swan, representing the New Zealand Drama Council. Sir Laurence, Miss Leigh and Miss Marsh and O'Connor Ltd., gave them the sum of £510 10s, and to this the British Council added
