on sunday firewood seekers from Waitarere went right up .to the mouth of the Manawatu' River (which . is not an unusual occurrence) and carried on up the bank of the Manawatu River for over a mile to. ga'ther firewood off the area opposite Rush Flat. Thfe is the ^ first occasion for very- many years that vehicles have been able to negotiate so far up the bank of the. river. ....
