Beceiv'ed Monclay, 7 p.m. LONDON, August 22. A grave view of developments in the relations between Russia and Yugoslavia, is taken by two natio'nal newspapers today, one of them, the Daily Mail, deelaring: "-The hostility has reached such a pitch that aii outbreak oi' war would liot be surprising. Russia, in fact, has gone so i'ar as to threaten war. How else are we 'io interpret Moseow 's staternent that if Tito does not'mend his ways, she will resort to 'other and more effective means' to proteet her citizens in Yugoslavia and 'bring order to unrestrained Faseist offenders.' "YVe ean but vvatch events reinembering that a Russian invasion of Yugoslavia would be a serious threat to British and . American interests. Under the Truman policy the United States is pledged to sustain Greece and Turkey. ' '
Pointing out that the Yugoslavsalone know whether they are going to overthrow Tito or not, the Liberal 'Manchester Guardian says the Cominform has been telling Yngoslavs over and over again not only that is what they are going to do, but also wliy they are going to do it. The Guardian said: "Like most of the Cominform's campaigns.it has an obvious political purpose. it would be reasonayio, too, tc draw the obvious political inferenee that the Connnunists think the time/ has come to overthrow their former. allv. Now that their Greek allies are in such distress, Marslial Tito's cuntiwued presence in Belgrade is t'ar more inconvenient to their cause than at any I time sinee his heresy beeame appar- ' cnt.
