Jack Boyd, former New Zealaud amateur lieavyweight champion, began his professioual boxiug career with a narrow points decision over Tommy Downes (Palmerston North), in a ten round bout at Stratford last night. The judges disagreed and the ref ereey Mr. (1 L. Copestake, awarded the figlit to Boyd, who weiglied in at 13.5 and Downes at 13.2.
