Store Hogget Market Shows Hardening Tendency With. values in all departments very. buoyant there was no very noteworthy cliange in the aetivities at yesterdav's live stock sale in Feilding although store hogget priees were inclined to harden. Mutton values refleeted no influence f rom the" liftiAg of controls and with the sqpply position really very good, buyers were able to satisfy requirements without unduly pressing the market. Ewe mutton strengthened somewhat while the best of the hoggets were dearer hut wethers were just a shade easier ."Station eattle sold well up to late rates' but the quality was not quite as strong as at the previous sale. The dairy cattle department was particularly active with a very strong enquiry. Fat Sheep An oft'ering of elose upon 1800 head of fat sheep eanie forward to meet with a steady sale from a good attendance of operators. The pens were not all as even as buyers like, many lots eontaining unfinished sheep and this tended to affeet, values. Coinpared with lasc week top sheep were dearer in the case of both hoggets and ewes but wethers, with the exceptiou of a single heavy prime sheep which sold at 68s 7d, wet'e sliglitly easier. Top wethers sold from 58s lOd to 62s 4d, the best of the hoggets from 45s 7d to 48s lOd aud aged ewes from 48s lOd to 47s 4d. The Shorthorn steers were not big and required flnishing and sold for £18 7s 6d. Ex-dairy heifers sold from £9 5s to £10 5s. Station Cattle Young station eattle along with cows and heifers made up an offering off some 300 head with the quality rather in and out. Interest was quite active and most of the pens found buyers but some were passed in because vendors were inclined to be over optimistic. The realisations were: Yearling steers, 23 A.A. at £9 5s; 36 at £8 17s 6d and £8 15s'; 32 at £10 8s; 15 2-yr. A.A. steers at £12 8s; 17 2 and 3-yr. A.A. heifers £11 6s; 50 do at £12 11s; 27 do A.A.Hereford cross at £11 17s; 18 do Hereford at £11 6s; 15 do A.A.-Hereford cross at £10; 17 A.A.-Hereford cross empty cows at £11 7s; 33 A.A. empty cows at £11 6s. | Dalry Cattle Many of the cattle offered in the dairy section were rather doAvn in condition but the entries iucluded some good quality sorts which commanded strong competition.
