Rome, one of the major events of 1950 which is to be celebrated as Holy Year by the Roman Catholic Ohurch, will be tlie proclamation bv the Pope of an important new statement of docma in which the belief that Mary, mother of Christ, is in Heaven not onlv in soul but also in body, will be announeed. At present, aceording to Rome theologians, Roman Oatholics who deny this belief sin mortallv but once it has been formallv proclaimed as part of the Ohurch 's dogma, thev will, if thev p'ersist in their denial. be separated from the Chufcb as hevetie.s. - If the nroclamation of the new dogma is -made bv the Pope in 1950, it will be, the first t.o be issued in the present eentury. The last nroclamation of dogma was made in 1870 when the Vatican. council ruled that Popes are infallihle when speaking "ex cathedra" on matters of faith or morals.
