^ German Expert Tells About Russian Activity

Received Thursday, 9.15 a.m. BERLIN, August 17. A German rocket expert who has just escaped to the Western zones after three years of forced service with the Russians said today that the Russians were building a network of Vee 2 bases in Germany aimed at Western Europe, arid had already begun rebuilding the Vee 2 weapon experimental establishment at Pennemunde, sa'ys the British United' Press. The expert, whose name has not been officially revealed, said that he worked as weapon expert for the German Army and was takento Russia with other German technicians at the end of the war. He said that a number of Russian commissions were working on the necessary preparations to bring the Vee bases in Eastern Germany into action at a few minutes' notice. Plans for both stationary and mobile bases had been worke'd; out, and stationary bases for one , and three batteries had been placed I all over Eastern Europe. Each was supplied with all the necessary calculations for firing: orders and ballistic.scatements for the designated te'rritory in Western Europe.
