Marine Explorer's Deep Sea Dive

(N.Z.P.A,

Received Tuesday 8 p.m. NEW YORK, August 15. The marine explorer, Otis Barton 's attempt to descend 6000 feet into the ocean off Santa Cruz Island, California, for a world record dive, failed today. He was lowered to 2300 feet "but generator trouble on the barge at the surface left him without lights in the steel benthoscope. Barton, who is a-ged 48 and an engineer of Boston, ordered his associates to haul him up. He said the worst part of the dive was the f ealing that the diving bell was tipping over — a sensation caused by lack of oxygen. He added that he would make another attempt when the trouhle was fixed. rvWvywwwtfVVW\^VWWWWVVWWW
