HADLEE APPRECIATES SPIRIT OF TEST MATCHES
Received Wednesday, 10.40 a.m. v LODDON. August 16. The "New Zealand captain, W. A. Hadlee, at the end of the fourth test, said in a statement: "Now that our four test matches have terminated I do want to place on record my -very deep appreciation of the splendid spirit which has prevailed in the England and New Zealand teams. In both Mann and Brown England fielded two captains against whom it has been a real pleasure to play. We have enjoyed the series from the first ball to the last. "To many cricket lovers the fact that no definite result was achieved in the three days is no doubt unsatisfactory. Nevertheless, a close examination of the situation which prevailed at certain times in each one of the four tests will reveal that all four could have finished had the temporary advantage which accrued to one team or the other been implemented. All in all, a very happy and enjoyable series."
