Birss has returned home after a lioliday visit' to the South Islaiid. i Consecratibn, Of Church. On- Stinday, ' September 4, -ohe Bishop . of Wellington will be visiting Shannon to consecrate the 51-year-old Ven Bede's Church. The service will commence at 2.30 p.m. at which the Bishop and his wife, an'd also Archdeaon Monaghan and Mrs. Mohaghan, hope to meet all paris'hioners informally. The ladies' guild has catering plans Well in hand for the social gathering. At 3.30 p.m. the Bishop will hold the annual confirmation service in the church. It is hoped tb have visitors .from Foxton for the. consecratioh and also for the confirmation service. "It is not very often that we are ' given ^the op-'r portunity of witnessing a service of consecratioh and I do hope that as many as possible will avail themselves of the privilege of seeing the performance or some very ' ancient rites of our church," stated Rev. M. J. S. Wheeler.
