N.Z. Sends Whale Meat To Britain
WELLINGTON, August 15. JDestined for Britain, the largest shipment of whale meat to leave New Zealand this season, will be taken frOin Wellington in the freighter Gloueester next week. Over 120 tons net, th"e shipment of whale steaks is part of the recorcl season 's consignments takou from the 132 whales eaught to date, including two today. With seven days to go before the whaling season closes, the Tory Channel liunters are hopeful of inereasing their record. " The Gloueester 's shinment is the third sent to Britain this winter, and more will follow next, month and in October. So far 320 tons have beenshipped. Britain is anxious to get more whale meat than New Z ea] and could supply, said a representative of the Picton packing firui today. This total, far surpassing any sent in previous years, is still far short of the demand.
