WELLINGTON, August 15. : The Minister in charge of Tourist and Health Resorts, Mr Parry, said tonight : tliat Cabinet approval had been given for a vispt to the United States and ; Canada of Mr. R. M. Firth, Assistant General Manager of the Tourist Depart- 1 ment, who will conlirm booking agency ; arrangements with leading travel agencies and transport organisations and give them up to the minute detailed information. Air Parry said that before the war the Tourist Department had complen; selling arrangements with travel agencies in various parts of the world. Dur ing the war many travel agene.ies in the United States ceased operations but in reeent years there had been a vigorous revival of travel selling and it was to encourage travel agency staffs to promote traffie to Neiv Zealand tha Mr Firth 's visit was being made. A" re" cent survey showed ^tliat facilities e.7isted in New Zealand 'for the revival of the tourist industry, pnrticularlv from dollar countries. Emphasis would be placed on attracting' tlie sportsman type of New Zealand which offered iu•compaiable deep sea fishing, trout fishing and shooting. Mr, Parry said he confidently anticipated an increased number of general tourists.
