"Under The Table" Charge: Fined £270
WELLINGTON, August 14. He had no hesitation in concluding that an "under the table" transaetion had taken place, said Mr T. E. Maunsell, ' S.M., in giving his verdict in a Land Saies Act prosecution in the Magistrate's Court. The defendant, Jarnes Hodgson Finlay, retired cabinetmaker, was fined £270. The charge was that Finlay had failed to diselose that a sum of £250 had been paid to him for certaia property in Seatoun — this „ sum being in addition to the £1950 he had, received as approved by t"he Land Saies Court.
