Improved Train Service Wanted
In reply to a suggestion from the Otaki Borough Council that, if a permit is granted, a bus for workers be run from Otaki to Wellington at 7 a.m., ret'urning at 5 p.m., Mr. J. S. Baliinger,; for De Luxe Tours, Ltd., aTvised Wednesday night's meeting of the council that the timetable woulft be fixed in accordance with the wishes of any who suppor ed the app'ication. Cr. N. D. Anderson said that the prop^sal first emanated from the Commercial ' As$pciation, which had asked for. a.. more convenient train serviee to and fr.om Wellington. The association felt tJpat a bus serviee would be too fle3fible, and wished to disassociate itsel'f from any efforts in connection with procqring a bus serviee. - /■ Kf '"?• Cr. J. L. ,(Rett£r said he ha'd expressed hirhself! on an .earlier occasion as- opposl'd 'to a bus serviee, unless it catered for workers. He did not support a bus for shoppers ; As no satisfactory reply had been f'orthcoming from Ihe Railways Road Services, it was agreed tha.t the letter be deferred meantime, but that those bpposed to the running of a bus be- advised that they wou'd have the ( opportunity of appearing' before the Licensing Authority when-it sat. '
