Messages from Delhi state that. the : '-mstituont Assemblv is considering hanging the naine of India to Bliarat, * name by which it was known ancienttakon from oue of its kings. Onr--c.-tion of opinion wants the name to f t« TTindustan, but this is opposed by Mr. Xehru on the ground that this w.ird denotes a certain religious affiliaT:ou. The name of Tndia comes from the river Tndus. If the change is made h ;s likelv to be announced on Augusr the second anniversary of tho cielaration of India 's independence.
