High Class Play In B Grade Badminton
Some high class badminton was seen when Manakau met Coiiege Old Pupils in the Horowhenua As^ociation's B grade ccmpetition. P. Leen p.ayed well to beat N. Sci scia in the men's sing-es. Miss D. Johnscn, for Coilege, impressed and with a little more experience will be a hard player to beat. Manakau won by 10 games to six. Detailed results were as follows, Manakau players being mentioned first in each instance: — • Men's singles: P. Leen beat N. Sciascia, 21-6; A. Haz itt lost to R. Robinson, 9-21; G. Lander beat M. Winiata, 21-15; K. Harry beat G. Sciascia, 21-11. Ladies' singles: Mrs. J. Bryant lost to Miss D. Benning, 1-15 ; Miss N. Staples beat Miss J. Perigo, 15-3; Mrs. P. Moretto lost to Miss D. Johnson, 3-15; Mrs. I. Cudby beat Miss B. Hooker, 15-0. Men's doubles: Leen and Haz' itt beat G. Sciascia and Robinson, 2115; Lander and Harry beat N. Sciascia and Winiata, 21-13. Ladies' doubles: Mrs. Bryant and Miss Staples lost to Misses Benning and Perigo, 4-15; Mesdames Moretto and Cudby beat Misses Johnson and Hooker, 15-9. Combined doubles: Leen and Mrs. Bryant lost to N. Sciascia and Miss Benning, 13-21; Hazlitt and Miss Staples lost to. Robinson and Miss Perigo, 9-21; Lander and Mrs. Moretto beat Winiata and Miss Johnson, 21-17; Harry and Mrs. Cudby beat G. Sciascia and Miss Hooker, 21-4. i Ohau v. Manakau.
