MONETARY CLAIM FOR WAGE LOSSES
GREYMOUTH, August 10. A claim has been made by the Greymouth Waterside Worker's Union on the Waterfront ^ommission, for the loss to members as a result of the stopping of attendance monev. This loss followed a removal of commission contro! from all ports where unionists refusml to dissoeiate themselves from main port unionists who placed a ban on overtime. A sum of £68 is being claimed bv the Greymouth Union on the ground that i' committed no breach of the watersid° workers' agreement and therefore ' wai wrongly deprived of the privileges. The decision to make the claim was reaehed at the monthly stop-work meeting this morning. Tt was one' of YhY longest for some time and lasted nnti' midday. It was pointed out that co'm mission control had been suspended ou July 26, since when the port worked normally'on oecasions up to 11 p.m. in eluding Saturday niglit, in compliancc with the cqtiditions of the main ordef.
