NEW PLYMOUTH, August S. "It is necessary to indieate that now that the Government undertakes so much for the benefit of the people, the attitude of the taxpayer towards the Government should' be reorientated, " said Mr. W. H. Woodward, S.M., in the Mngistrate 's Court at Xew Plvmoutli today, in convicting Oeeil Pavid Smith, tyre dealer, of making wilful false returns of income for the years 194.1 to 194S inclusive. The amount by which Smith ;s ascertained income exceeded his declared income for those years, was £3279 on which the tax deficiency was estimated to be about £950 plus some penalties. Ile was Pmed £25 on each of six charges.
