Moutoa Pony Club Winds Up Season
The Moutoa Pony Club members enjoyed their rally and wind up of the season's competitions on Saturday last at Mr. P. Bang's paddock. In the. morning the team competition was finalised and Jack Barber's team was successful with the total of 232£ poinfcs. Melville Newth's team was seeond with 184 points and Noeline Matthews' team thlrd with 1821 peints. After lunch open competitions were held . and the fohowing were successful in the ■ variofis events: — Thirteen - years and under. — Potato race: Barry McCarthy 1, Bevin Newth 2, Leonie Carter 3. Musical chairs: Mary Podjursky 1, Bevin Newth 2, Jocelyn Barber 3. Flag race: David Barber 1, Bevin Newth 2, Leonie Carter 3. Bending: David Barber 1, Jocelyn Barber 2. Fourteen years to 20 years. — Potato race: Ron Bang 1, Graham Sanson' 2, Colleen Mathews 3. Musical chairs: Paul McErlean 1, Jack Barber 2, A. Po'djursky 3. Flag rac-es: J. Barber 1, N. Matthews 2; Paul McErlean 1, Elwyn Newth 2, Graham Sanson 3. Jumping. — Open: Paul McErlean 1, Bevin Newth 2, John Proctor 3. Intermediate: Barry McCarthy 1, Rachel McMillan ' 2, Noeline Matthews ■ 3. Shetlands: Jocelyn Barber 1, Bevin Newth 2, Mary Podjursky 3. . To wind up the year a social function for members was held at the Moutoa Hall in the evening and Mr. S. Bariber, senior-instructor, took the opportunity before presenting the certificates, ribbons and trophies won during the day to thank all who had in various ways assisted the club. He mentioned Mr. P. Bang for the use bf his property, donors of trophies, nameiy Messrs Smith, Bang, J. Ritchie, R. Vinsen and Machinery Exchange (Palmerston North) , fellow instructors for their assistance, the public for its generous support'and finally- members for their splendi'd behaviour at all times. "The successful trophy winners were: — Smith and Bang Cup: Mr.. J. Barber's team; J. Ritchie Cup for members under 13 years with the best kept gear and pony for the year: David Barber; Machinery Exchange Cup for members over 13 years to 20 years with best kept gear and pony for the year; Jack Barber. Mr. J. Newth ably carried out the duties of M.C. and Mrs. T. FuTer's services at the piano' were appreciated by all members. The annual general meeting is to be held at the Moutoa, Hall on August 16. Anyone interested is invited to attend.
