Broadcasts Of Both Rugby And Cricket

WELLINGTON, August 4. Radio coverage of the cricket and Rugby tests on th'e night of Saturday, August 13, has been arranged with a ball for ball descriptiou of the cricket and a full broadcast of the Rugby. The cricket, usually broadcast from the start of play till stumps tli rough 2YA will be transferred to station 2YC. on (150 kc about 1.30 a.m. when the Rugby is due to begin. After the Rugby has finished from 2YA, the cricket commentary will be returned to tliat station.

Au officer of the National Broadcasting Service said today that listeners throughout New Zealand should be able to pick up 2YC for cricket at that hour of the morning as they did with the stronger 2YA station. Reception from South Africa is, of course, less reliab'e (tbanrt-bfit f-^r t'hief .engineer of the service, Mr. W. L. Hani son, assures that "Vevery po'ssible stcp to get the best reproduction from South Africa, is being taken."
