WELLINGTON, Aug. 5. ' The Price Tribunal announced today that the decontrolled period for .fresh meat prices, which under Price Order No. 965 extends from September 1 to Novbmber 30 is to be advanced to take effect immediately. There wili, therefore, be no control over prices for fresh beef, veai, mutton, park or lamb untii the price order again becomes effeetive 011 December 1. Fresh meat sundries (kidneys, liver, tongue, tripe, etc.) will, however, be subject to the maximum price as set out in Price Order No. 963. Prices for frozen meat will continue to be controlled and ample supp ies are being made available to the trade. The Master Butchers' Federation has assured the Price Tribunal of its co-operation in ensuring that tfieir member s stock and hand.e tWs class of meat in order that it will be' available to the public when desired. The statement added that the Price Tribunal had taken this step in advancing the decontro led period because unusuai live stock shortages had brought about such increased prices at auction that the retail butchers couid not continue to operate. without some re.ief.. The amending price order would be Gazetted at ihe earliest possible opportunity.
