When the erew of tlie Danish Viking ship Htigin were entertained by the I.ord Mayor of London, Sir George Aylwen. at the Guildhall, tlie Danish ehieftain, Erik Kier.sga.unl, ]iresented to the Lord Mayor a solid silver neeklet which, he said, was an exa*t replica of a flfth contury Viking ornament. As the ehieftain made the presentation another member of the erew sounded a blast 011 a replica of a Viking war horn and the assembled Danes. rising to their fcrt, gret ted tlie Lord Mayor with the tliriee repeated shout of "Hil." On the table beforethe Lord Mayor lay an antheritie Viking horn eaptured during the flfth eenturv from Viking raiders in Heotland. Tlie ehairuan of the Anglo-Danish Society, Sir Cliarles ITambro, proposing tlie toast of the Lord Mayor, reminded tlie Danes that though tlie Vikings conquered Ivent, they never vanquished London. J
