(N.Z.P.A.-

-Reuter.

Five Conditions Include Treaty With United States

, Copyright)

Received Friday, 9.5 a.m. NEW YORK, August 4. Marshal Stalin was reported today to have laid down five conditions as his price for world peace. The "United Nations World," an' unofficial publication on world affairs, said that the conditions were written down by a top ranking American businessman after a New York conversation with the Soviet diplomat, Mr. Andrei Gromyko.

The conditions are as fo'lows: — Firstly, a .treaty between the United States and Soviet Union formalising the commitments of both countries as set forth in the Yalta and Potsdam documents. Secondly, Pour-Power unanimity on all questions concerning Germany. Thirdly, Western generosity on reparations for Russia. Fourthly, the immediate cessation of Anglo-American support of "subversive Pascist and Hitierite elements." Fifthly, the elimination of all discriminatory trade practices. On the first point the businessman noted that "as a supreme realist Marshal Stalin wants this to be a strictly bila.eral pact, ex-

countries of Western Europe, which' cluding the United Kingdom and he dismisses as negligible quantities." On the second point he said: "Marshal Stalin wiil never give ground on this issue, because he believes that the restoration of Germany by either the East or West acting alone is ceruain to lead to war." It is also stated tha't Marshal Stalin regarded reparations in kind as a token of Western recognition of the Soviet 's enormous bloodletting in th war and that he linke'd the elimination of discriminatory a-ade practices with Ti 2,000,000,000dollar loan to Russia from the United States for the stimulation and resumption.of normal trade.
