WELLINGTON, August 3. National Airways pilots Teaching Wellington from the north 4oday reported that both Nlt. Ruapelur and Mt. Ngauruhoe were sli owing plumes of -moke. They said the two peaks, both of which have been ac.tive within recent months, made a iine picture in the clear, frosty early morning light. Inquiries made later from Chateau Tongariro confirmed that both cones ifad been emitting smoke together recently, although at the time- the telephone call was made cloud had formed and interrupted the viewT from the hostel. There has not, however, been any remarkable activity 011 the part of either volcano in recent wreeks.
