AUCKLAND, Aug. 3. Aftor a most uninspiring and only in stages interesting game, Aucklajid represent.atives defeated( the Canterbury touring team at Eden Park today by 21 points to .3. Auckland scored six tries and a penalty goal to one try. Weather conditions were iine bnt the ground in the eentre portion was muddy, which made it diffieult for the inside baeks to attain thoir accustomed speed. Canterbury did well in the first half vo hold Auckland to a G — 3 advantage. Tn the second half, however, Canterbury fell to pieces, the positional play of the backs was bad, attempts at passing almost futile, with tackling leaving much to be desired. No fault could be found with the Canterbury forwar Ja of wliom Herman, Chandler and Henderson "were outstanding. K. C. Stuaet (full-back) and P. V. Vincent (half) were the best of the rearguard. Outstanding f o t Auckland was Ivelly, the full-back. There was an attendanee of about 12,000.
