ROTORUA, August 3. A wide police seareh is being conducted for a mau who eseaped from the cells at the Rotorua police statiou early this morning. It is believed the risoner tore the boards from tlie walls f his cell to escape. The man sought is Richard Norman Yeend, a seaman, who wa. yesterdav -harged in the Rotorua Police Coun with the theft of proper tv v&lued at ill2 10s from the S.B. Sonoma at Auckiand. His description is: Age, 22; leight, 5ft 9in; slim build; boil on riglit cheek; sallow complexion; fair Mraight hair. He was wearing brnwn sports coat. grej' trousers and tan shoes without laees.
