Smaller Staff for Totalisator. Fewer persons are needed to operate the new totalisator plant that has been installed at Riccarton racecourse. When a report that all women employees in the . totalisator had been told th^t their services would be no longer required was referred to the secretary of the Canterbury Jockey Club (Mr. F. T. Bell), he said that it was quite incorrect. Nevertheless, about 20 to 30 fewer operators than formerly 'would he needed, but men as well as women would be involved ln the reduction in staff. Mr. Bell said the new plant was operating very well.
