Orpheus Society's Generous Offer To Scouts
The Levin Boy Scouts are hpping ' to cpnsid'erably swell their funds through a generous offer by the Palmerston North Orpheus Society; (Male Voice Choir) to stage a con-i cert in Levin, the entire proceeds; of which will go to the local scout committee. At a recent meeting of the Scout committee the society's proposal was enthusiastically ' accepted and the concert wih be stpged in the Horowhenua College Hall on August 24. It was stated that the society only requested that the scouts meet the petrpl expense involved in bringing the choir to Levin. Building Plans. At the same meeting the scouts' plans for a home of their owh on the section allocated to them at PJayford Park .were further advanced by a report from the special building committee set up to find ways and means of effecting the erection of the building, in which the Levin Miniature Rifle Club wilj also have a share. A proposed plan was submitted by the committee and.it was decided that Mr. A. . Hannah, "a committee membeu and builder. hy occupation, be asked to estimate frOm the plan the amount of timber that would be required and make application to the Building Controller for permission to erect the building. The scouts are looking forward considerably to occupying the hall, the erection of .which . will be carried out ' by working bees: The committee also intends to launch a campaign seeking the assista.nce of farmers by the donation of'trees, and .it is on this basis that the committee submitted its application to the Building Controller.
