Patriotic Association At End Of Activities
The Horowhenua County Patriotic Association's management committee met this week in Levin, Mr. C. S. Keedwell presiding over a good attendance. Apologies for absence were received 'from Mesdames T. Gibson and C. Batholomew. The chairman extended an inyitation to Mr. H. B. Burdekin to address members on the propose'd amalgamation of war and patriotic funds. After discussion the association decided on amalgamation, The chairman and Messrs. H. G. Mackay and F. P. Walkley were appointed as a committee to carry out t'he transfer of the asociation's funds, whi7e the chairman and Mr. Mackay were nominated as members of the local patriotic fund committee. , Amounts totalling £21 were passed for payment to deserving cases needing assislance. Members made mentipn of the valuable service repdered gratuitously to the association by Mr. F. P. Walkley -and it was decided to recognise this work and record appreciation of his assistance throughout the years. Tribute was also paid to the work of the civilian members of the committee, Mesdames Batholomew and Gibson and Mr. Keedwell.
